When I think of Mom - May 3, 2004

When I think of Mom …

I think of organization. Like a skilled craftsman, she made her job look easy.

Jim

When I think of Mom …

I think of our nightly family dinner, her delicious food, all the laughter and conversation. How nice it was to be together.

Jerry

When I think of Mom …

I picture her in knee slapping laughter. She loved having a living room full of company telling stories over a drink.

Mark

When I think of Mom …

I think how much thought and time she devoted to the needs and happiness of others. That’s what made her happy!

Mary

When I think of Mom …

I picture us all sitting at a church breakfast, and everyone stopping by and saying “Anne, I don’t know how you do it!”

I see her flirting with my Dad, smiling and batting her blue eyes adoringly at him.

Loretta

When I think of Mom …

I’m sitting next to her on the couch, happily knitting and letting her fix all my mistakes.

Susie

When I think of Mom …

I think of her spontaneous laughter, sparkling blue eyes, and chocolate deserts.

Molly

When I think of Mom …

I think of singing. Mom would break out in song at the dining room table and put her arm around John, pulling him close. He would sit there with that cute little smile, rolling his eyes.

Ginny

When I think of Mom …

I see her peeling potatoes at the kitchen table, making gravy at the stove.

I see her in the den crocheting afghans while watching TV.

Anne

When I think of Mom …

I hear Henry Mancini on the stereo full blast, and see Mom dancing in the living room.

Elizabeth

When I think of Mom …

I think of one day, while expressing a concern, Mom said, “John, if one-tenth of what people worried about came true, they would truly have something to worry about”.
